My name is Pawel and I live in Dublin but I’m originally from Poland. I grew up in a family home where music was a part of our daily lives. My father was a professional musician so rehearsals and live concerts were a regular occurrence. Because of this I was introduced to the arts from an early age and from that upbringing grew a passion for process, technique and technology.

Before I ever even thought to work in photography I was a professional musician myself, working with bands in Poland and Ireland for many years. This was a productive time in my career and it allowed some artistic expression, but I felt I needed another outlet to assert my individual style. I bought my first real camera in 2009. I bought it on a whim, but I was eager to take up photography as a hobby. I studied many different photographers, techniques and processes in the early stages but through this study I found that I enjoyed capturing candid moments in life; people’s gestures and expressions. The “shoot from the hip and hope for the best” approach suited me. My hobby gradually turned into a career. This revelation left me torn between two things that I love.

In essence, I’m a musician at heart, but I’m a photographer by profession.
